Unit Calendar Part 2
Day 1: Factoring when a>1 NOTES
Students will be able to factor quadratic expressions when the leading coefficient is greater than 1. We will be using the grouping method.

Day 2: Factoring Practice
Students will complete a graded classwork activity to demonstrate their mastery of factoring.

Day 3: Operations with Polynomials
Students will review previously learned concepts on adding, subtracting, and multiplying binomials and trinomials. They will complete a graded group activity.

Day 4: Expanding Binomials NOTES
Students will use Pascal's Triangle to expand binomials.
Homework: pp. 64-66 (#6-25)
Day 5: Solving by Factoring NOTES
Students will solve quadratic equations by factoring.

Day 6: Graphing Quadratics in Factored Form NOTES
Students willl find the vertex, axis of symmetry, y-intercept, and x-intercepts from the factored form of a quadratic equation.

UNIT CALENDAR Part 1
Day 1: Transforming Quadratics NOTES
Students will reflect, dilate, and translate quadratic functions from an equation, and write the transformed equation from a description.
Homework: pp. 5-6 in workbook
Day 2: Standard Form vs. Vertex Form NOTES
Students will go back and forth between vertex and standard form, identifying the vertex and axis of symmetry when the quadratic equation is in vertex form.
Homework: pp. 10-12 in workbook
Day 3: Completing the Square NOTES
Students will learn to "complete the square" in order to convert a quadratic equation from standard form to vertex form.
Homework: Worksheet
Day 4: Graded Assignment
Students will work on a graded classwork assignment that ties together the skills learned in days 1, 2, and 3.

Day 5: Factoring Quadratics where a = 1
Students will factor quadratic expressions when the leading coefficient is 1. This will include sum and differences of squares.
Homework: pp. 37-38 in workbook
Day 6: More Factoring

Day 7: Test Review
Students will review for the upcoming Module 4 - Part 1 Test. Students should complete their Webassign for extra credit!
